Foundation “de Pellikaan” (Dutch for "the pelican") stimulates development projects by young people from different cultural backgrounds in order to let them experience the value of intercultural cooperation. “de Pellikaan” was founded in Engelen, The Netherlands, March 8, 2010. Foundation “de Pellikaan” mediates between young people and projects. The foundation provides advice and financial support and makes her network available to participants. The foundation is continually looking for sponsors, for young people interested in intercultural experience, and companies and organisations that need enthousiastic young people for executing international, idealistic projects.

January 2, 2014 - The Foundation de Pellikaan sponsors project SAFE.
Students from the Free University Amsterdam will collaborate with students from the University Capetown in South Africa on the topic of South African Female Entrepreneurship (SAFE). They keep a weblog of their activities and experiences on this website.

September 15, 2012 - Good crowd at yesterday's IDP Waste Management seminar in Amsterdam
The students who worked on the Waste Management project in Kochi this year organised a seminar yesterday on their project and their experiences. There was a good crowd and interesting discussions.

August 15, 2012 - A new project team has started working on the Waste Management project 2012 in Kochi
4 students from the University of Amsterdam are collaobrating with students from Rajagiri College and Sacred Heart College on implementations of solutions proposed last year by the previous project team in Kochi.

June 20, 2012 - Felix Gras appointed as project counselor for the Waste Management 2012 project
The board has invited Felix Gras to acht as counselor for the Waste Management project this year. That way, students receive excellent support, while the board can keep focus on other issues.
June 10, 2012 - The board has appointed Mary David as Advisor to the Foundation
The board as well as last year's students have received a lot of support from Mary David and sollicited and unsollicited advise in Kochi. The board has valued these contributions enormously and has now asked Mary David to remain involved with the Foundation as official Advisor of the Foundation de Pellikaan.
June 1, 2012 - The board has decided to support another Waste Management project in Kochi in 2012
Because of the success of last year's project and the productive collaboration with SEFA, the board has decided to sponsor a successor project in Kochi on Waste Management in 2012. Moreover, as the board noticed during their visit to Kochi, local partners are very much interested to collaborate on a successor project.
May 24, 2012 - The board of the Foundation de Pellikaan visited Kochi to get to know the local partners of the Waste Management project
Made possible by a business trip to India, the board visited the Kochi area and met with local partners. There were meetings with business and educational leaders as well as government representatives. These provided a lot of new knowledge and insights. The board members were pleasantly surprised by the enthousiastic reception and positive feedback on the Waste Management project.

January 6, 2012 - de Pellikaan is exploring opportunities for a follow up of the Waste Management project and a new initiative
The promising results of the Waste Management project deserve a follow up. Foundation "de Pellikaan" is investigating whether it can organise this. Moreover, the Foundation also would like to begin a new initiative, in another country, on another topic, possibly with other partners. Suggestions are welcome.
27 november 2011 - Presentation and Auction Waste Management project
The Students working on the Waste Management project gave a presentation of their final report in Amsterdam. They also organised an auction of pictures taken in India. The proceeds of the auction and the bar will be used for funding future projects.

The students who are currently in India working on a project on waste management, supported by de Pellikaan, started their own weblog.
June 24, 2011 - Project, participants and money in place for first sponsored project of de Pellikaan
This summer, 3 students from the University of Amsterdam will, together with students from India, work for 5 weeks on a waste management assignement in India, made possible by de Pellikaan. The board is very excited to have been able to initiate the first project and hopes for many more.
May 29, 2011 - Meeting for Friends of de Pellikaan
On a sunny Sunday afternoon, in the garden of board member Frank Donkers, we had our first meeting for supporters of our foundation. Among others, several students from the University of Amsterdam presented a project plan for an assignment on waste management in India. The board is now actively looking for funds to make this project possible as a first project to be sponsored by de Pellikaan.
